Ron Matheson Business Broker

Ron Matheson has spent more than two decades buying and selling online companies, and was for several years affiliated with the largest business brokerage in the world. He has been consistently ranked among the top ten brokers in the country and has earned a reputation as one of the leading internet business brokers in the United States.
His route into brokerage ran through ownership first. He left UCLA Film School in 1985 to open Off The Wall, an art and framing gallery in Colorado Springs, and grew it into a retail chain of more than twenty stores across Denver, Las Vegas, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Maryland and Florida. Alongside it he owned Thomas Kinkade Signature Galleries, Dixies Hot Cinnabuns and Bearly Camelot.
He stepped away in 2002 to travel and play golf, then went looking for a business to buy in 2005. All four of his offers collapsed in due diligence. What he took from that run of failures was that the brokers involved did not understand the ground well enough to prepare a buyer for what was coming. If he wanted to buy a company, he would have to learn the trade himself. Two acquisitions followed, and he found he preferred the process to the ownership. His own brokerage firm came shortly after.
The thing he credits most is the bench behind him: certified public accountants, banking and financial specialists, valuation firms and due diligence experts.
