Paul Volen Business Broker
Paul Volen spent twenty-five years in corporate America leading and scaling large technology divisions at Fortune 1000 companies, then eight years as an entrepreneur running, buying and selling his own businesses. Finding that he liked the buying and selling more than the operating, he became a broker.
Having been both an owner and a seller means he can occupy either seat in a negotiation. That is what he credits for reaching workable outcomes faster than the process usually allows.
On the sell side, the work is understanding the business in depth: what makes it distinct, where the value chain runs, where growth sits, how smoothly operations run, how clean the books are. He puts the effort into advisory and consulting work upfront to raise the value of the company before it goes out, which is included in the service and which gets businesses sold faster by presenting them properly the first time.
Paul spends his time with his wife and two teenage sons, particularly aware that they will not be at home much longer. Outside family, it is tennis and inventive cooking, and he will take a restaurant recommendation from anyone.
